Short Details of Mizoram Assembly Election 2018

Mizoram is the 25th area rank state of India. It has 8 districts along with 40 Assembly seats. As per the electoral list for the year 2018 is showing the number of voters for the Vidhan Sabha election in Mizoram is, 7.68 lakhs.

Here individually, 3.93 lakhs are female voters and 3.74 lakhs are the male voters. To indicate for a clear picture, 51.2% are for female voters and 48.8% are for male voters.

This is, somehow, a great and different where; females are far away from male voters in Mizoram Assembly Election. 976 female voters per 1000 male voters were in Mizoram Vidhan Sabha election in the years 2011. It increases gradually by the year 2018, and now there are 1051 female voters per 1000 male voters.

Overview of Mizoram Vidhan Sabha Election 2018

The Congress party is ruling over Mizoram since 2008. It has a strong command over the Mizoram state assembly. Out of 40 assembly seats of the state, Congress secured 34 seats in 2013 assembly election. This is a great achievement indeed. This was already one step plus from the previous Mizoram Assembly election of 2008, where Congress secured 32 seats.

In Mizoram assembly election 2013, when Congress won with 34 seats, the rest 6 seats out of 40 were distributed between two parties. Here 5 seats for Mizo National Front, while only one is for Mizoram People Conference. Lal Thanhawala nominated himself for two seats, Serchhip and Hrangturzo. He won from both the seats and took the oath for the 4th time, as the Chief Minister of Mizoram state. In continuation, he is CM of the state since 2008. he is completing his 10-year tenure in December 2018 as Chief Minister of the state.

Mizoram’s 50-member House is also expiring on December 15, 2018. Therefore the Mizoram assembly election 2018 will take place as per the defined schedule by the Election Commission.

28th November 2018 will be the date for the assembly election in Mizoram state. The vote counting and final results of the Assembly Election will take place on 11th December 2018. The complete schedule is given below:

 Indications through the opinion poll of Mizoram Assembly Election 2018

Congress has been in great power in Mizoram, for almost a decade. It is very much sure that the civilians will again choose Congress party as their leader. But few indications are towards the anti-incumbency factor. This may lead Congress to go a little down, as many are thinking about this. This was a long time for Congress to lead the Mizoram. The result may vary in accordance with the surprises in the bag in Mizoram Assembly Election.
